CALIFORNIA ALCOHOL REHAB
The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous states that alcohol is "cunning, baffling and powerful". If you have a problem with alcohol you will appreciate this statement. You are not alone; there are millions of us who have found a solution to our drinking problem and here at Above It All, a California Alcohol Rehab, we treat you with love and respect; the same love and respect that we expect from you when you get better.
If someone has told you that you might have a problem with your drinking, and has directed you to here, there are some simple truths that you might be interested in:
1. Although alcohol is legal it still runs a predictable course and has specific symptoms that are common in all peoples with a propensity to drink too much.
2. Alcohol is a liar.
3. Alcohol is a thief.
4. Alcohol is deadly.
5. Alcohol is patient.
6. Alcohol is subtle.
Ask any of us who have become alcoholics how this happened and we will all tell you that we never intended to ever let our alcohol abuse get the best of us. Somewhere, sometime that we don't know of, we crossed the line from recreational drinking to necessity drinking. If you need to drink to feel normal or need a drink just to get back to sleep or maybe just to relax everyday - you are heading for a cycle that may just take you to places you never dreamed you would go. This is our common story; there are variances but the general drift is always the same, we lose control of where we will go or what we will do or say when drinking. Blackouts are common to us, common but still very frightening. None of us like to lose control of anything, especially not of ourselves.
What we at Above It All Treatment offer is a solution to this scenario. That solution starts with coming into our alcohol treatment center for a 28 day in house treatment. We have found that the most lasting solution to alcoholism starts with being taken out of your familiar drinking spots and then being placed with peers, with the same alcoholic condition, here in the beautiful Lake Arrowhead Mountains – only 2 hours outside of Los Angeles.
Once here you will go into the detoxification house to detox. This is absolutely imperative because alcohol withdrawal can cause seizures and even death. We highly recommend that you trust us with your alcohol problem. We have beds available here in Lake Arrowhead, California, and if you are too unstable, we have beds nearby to suit the more critical needs. These beds are for ICU when needed. We understand and we care.
Right now, you may be thinking that there is no way that you can uproot yourself from all the needs that you take care of on a daily basis. We are equipped to help you by supporting your family and finding ways to get all your "stuff" done while you are in treatment. You will find that your world will keep on turning even without your help, sometimes (amazingly) your world may start getting better with you out of the way. Relax and know that the war is over and it is time for you to surrender, alcohol has defeated millions of people, but they have fought back and won!
The only requirement is an open mind and a willing heart and you will know that you are eligible for a life beyond your wildest dreams. You will have a life with trials, of course, but of endless blessings and power to surmount those trials without drinking. Alcohol will become a non-issue for you as you trudge with us on the trail for awhile. The days pass amazingly fast and you will quickly make friends, friends that you will know for the rest of your life.
A typical day in our Alcohol Rehab Program goes like this:
You will wake in the morning a 6:00 AM, eat breakfast then get in the van to go to the center. Once at the Center you will make your first group of the day which is a process group. Here you will talk of current situations of your life in a group setting. After this you will have, once a week, a one on one meeting with your alcohol counselor, where you will trouble shoot your life. You will also have, once a week, a therapist appointment where you can process those deep seated conditions that keep you getting drunk.
This all happens before 12 noon. Then at 12:00 PM you will make an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting for one hour. Lunch is brought to the Alcohol Recovery Center and is served from 1:00 to 2:00.
At 2:00 PM you will have your educational group where you learn things like triggers, emotions, family coping techniques and tricks on how to deal with the obsession to drink. This class is taught by licensed counselors and is quoted by some to be the best group of the day.
After group you will be taken back to your houses for free time and dinner. Then you will make an evening meeting at one of the fellowships of your choice. Then back in the van to go home before lights out at 10:00 PM.
The weekend schedule is not as intense and includes a ride on Sunday to the church of your choice, if you desire to go to church. This is not mandatory.
In this journey you will make many friends who identify with your struggles. Your peers are all adults and you will spend time with them in accord with your gender. Men with men and women with women, there are some activities that are coed, but we have found that vulnerable people in early recovery will sometimes "hook up" with a "person who understands" and then the focus is on that person when it should be on their own treatment. These "hook ups" never last after treatment because they are formulated out of desperation and loneliness. It is best not to tempt fate in these matters so we segregate the sexes. We have many horror stories about some couples who have disregarded our promptings and have joined together in treatment. Some have had to leave treatment only to find that once home the life situations are entirely different and the relationship loses its commonality.
If you are afraid just know that we have treated over six hundred clients and the vast majority are still sober today. We love you, please call.
