Drug and Alcohol Detox - About Our Detoxification House
Upon arrival at Above It All Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center the first stop is the detox house. This is where the treatment starts by seeing trained rehabilitation professionals who will do your intake, assign your bed and schedule you to see the doctor. You will be seeing the doctor right away because we know you will be feeling poorly very soon, if you are not already.
Our job is to make you as comfortable as possible during your detoxification off whatever drugs or alcohol you have been using. We do not take this matter lightly and you will see a doctor within the first 10 hours of your stay. The doctor has been treating drug addiction for 24 years and she is extremely adept at what she does. The doctor is abetted with a fully trained and licensed medical staff that is on twenty four hours a day at the detox house. These people love you because they know from experience what kind of person you are and they are dedicated to getting you back to who you know you are. We know inside that all of us are not bad people trying to get good; we are sick people trying to get well.
You will be at the detox house for approximately three days. While there you will have all your meals cooked for you by a highly trained chef who has been personally selected by the owner of Above It All. She will see to it that you get the best nutrition available that is scientifically selected to fit detoxification requirements and also special individual needs. She is always excited to help you with all your nutrition needs.
You will receive medications from the doctor to help with your individual medical detoxification needs. These medicines usually are given in low doses and designed to taper off during your stay in treatment. The ultimate goal is to be free of all drugs if at all possible and we do not use opiate based medicines such as suboxene to taper off with. The doctor will not prescribe for you something that is just a replacement drug, or a medicine that will cause you to need to detox off of in the future. The medical staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. You will be taken care of no matter what your medical needs are. If there is an emergency the nearest hospital is 5 minutes away and the fire department is across the street. We are taking no chances with your recovery needs.
The detox house has a laundry room available, 3 smoking areas, 2 porch areas and a patio. The linen on the beds is fresh and changed on a regular basis.
While in alcohol and/or drug addiction detox you will be assigned a counselor and, as soon as you are able, you can start attending groups at the Treatment Center. You will be driven in one of our mountain equipped vans whenever you need to go to participate in treatment. Personal trips (store runs) are scheduled regularly with the convenience of all considered.
You will be given an orientation by the detox counselor in which he will explain how Above It All functions, the meeting etiquettes and group procedures. He will explain what recovery is and how it works with things like the 12 Steps, therapy and counseling. He will also explain what is expected of you, how to act appropriately and the manners needed for you to co-exist with the rest of the clients. We are very community minded, that means that your individual needs will also be considered in relevance with group needs. Your peers are your new family until you can get back to your clean and sober life.
When it is appropriate you will be moved to your permanent housing. In this house there is a house manager and he/she will see to it that you get the individual attention required for things like getting your medications at the prescribed times and helping you get started in the morning. The clients cook for themselves with food supplied by Above It All. This is where you will make the friends that will be your support system for the rest of your life.
